The India-Canada Association of Kingston (ICA-Kingston) is a social, cultural, non-political, and not-for-profit, secular community organization of people of Indian heritage, including Belleville, Napanee, and Brockville areas.             

The ICA Kingston has been active in the Kingston region since 1979. The Association takes a lead role in planning and staging various Indo-Canadian cultural and social events and takes great pride in using these events, which are open to all, to make a unique contribution to and enhance the socio-cultural mosaic of the Greater Kingston Area. The ICA Kingston welcomes and supports the diversity of its membership. The membership is open to all people of the Kingston region interested in the cultural heritage of India.

 

Mission and Objectives

  • The ICA Kingston is a social, cultural, non-political, and not-for-profit secular community organization of people of Indian heritage in the greater Kingston region.

The Association, through its programs and events, promotes social, cultural, spiritual, economic, culinary, and educational interests of its members including major Indian languages, festivals, cuisines, ethnicities, contemporary and classical music, dances, and other cultural disciplines from India.

  • The ICA Kingston shall support programs promoting cultural and economic assimilation of new immigrants from India to Canada in the greater Kingston region.

 

Organizational Structure

The affairs and regular activities of the Association are conducted by the Executive Committee comprising of four elected officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and eight nominated members-at-large of the Executive Committee.  The Executive Committee has a term of two years. 

The financial and corporate functions of the Association are overseen by the Board of Trustees. Five members of the Board of Trustees are nominated by the Executive Committee of the Association, through consensus, to serve for a period of five years. The Board of Trustees nominates, amongst them, a Chairperson for the term. The functioning of the Association is guided by the Constitution of the India-Canada Association.
